Project:
Somerville Landfill Redevelopment Plan - Somerville, NJ
Client:
Borough of Somerville,New Jersey
Overview
The Borough of Somerville retained Phillips Preiss Grygiel to complete a redevelopment plan for the vacant 114-acre former municipal landfill adjacent to Downtown Somerville and the Borough’s train station. The Redevelopment Plan dictated a set of required roads, land uses, bulk and design requirements, and landscape/environmental guidelines. The plan vision required a market phased and multi-faceted design approach to determine appropriate standards for four general areas, (1) train station core, (2) a low- to mid-density residential neighborhood, (3) an open space preservation area, and (4) a signature non-residential development. The Borough has moved forward with implementation of the plan through the issuance of a request for proposals for a site redeveloper.
